I am Amanda Weger, a state
licensed, nationally certified massage therapist. I am committed
to promoting the unity of mind and body. All of my body work is
supported by the idea that you are capable of healing yourself.
My role as practitioner is to facilitate healing by offering my
full presence of self, in turn suggesting for you to become
present as well. It is in this presence of self that I believe
healing may begin. Approaching the mind and body as one
addresses not only the effect, but directly targets the cause of
pain. Healing is a journey; some with many destinations others
with no destination at all. Either way it all begins with
nurturing of self.
My entire practice has been built
with the understanding that everyone's healing process is
different, and your treatments with me are just one of many
steps towards healing. I personalize each massage by
taking time to fully understand your concerns and expectations.
I then combine your focus with my ten years of experience for a
more therapeutic approach. I am totally dedicated to each
of my clients and I realize the impact full body wellness has on
your quality of life.
I have
worked with chiropractors, psychologists, dentists,
physical therapists, and primary care physicians in dual
treatments to combat chronic and acute pains. I
can provide clinical charting, along with summaries that
follow changes of condition, to your other healthcare
providers. I believe integrating, or linking treatments
creates a very powerful and dynamic approach for our
ever so powerful and dynamic
selves.
Aromatherapy;
is
the use of essential oils and their hydrosols for health and
well-being.
I
have always been fascinated with the healing processes of
the human body. So when I was told that the olfactory
nerve (the part of your nose that distinguishes smells) is
the only nerve that is able to regenerate itself if damaged,
it spoke volumes to me of the importance our sense of smell.
Smell has been proven to be the fastest trigger of memories,
positive or negative. There have also been studies of
how certain aromas help induce deep relaxation, or even help
sore, tired muscles to heal faster. So at my clients
discretion I gladly, and intuitively add oils to accent each
session- just one more way I personalize each treatment.
I am currently working on my aromatherapy certification, and
have had the luck of studying directly under Cheryl Hoard,
one of the worlds most knowledgeable people for the study of
aromatherapy. I consider her along with her shop,
located in the heart of Maplewood, one of St. Louis'
best kept secrets. I use her products exclusively,
from the essential oils to my carrier bases!
I
highly recommend her website:

Myo-Fascial Release...
is my main course of study. This form of massage
can be used for a more therapeutic result. It can be combined either
with deep tissue or trigger point therapy, and I have also managed to blend it into relaxation Swedish massages as well. This type
of massage
is what I believe really allows for a tailored session. Your fascia
leads the way as it unwinds so no two sessions are alike.
What is Fascia?
Fascia is a very intricate connective tissue that extends
without interruption from the top of your head to the tip of your toes.
It also entwines throughout all other tissues and organs down to the
cellular level. It pretty much holds the body in its shape, and holds
your organs in their places. Since this tissue creates the boundaries
for all of your body parts, it has to be moved and/or stretched in order
to have a positive lasting effect on the actual muscle tissue, or
alignment of your bones.
What is Myo-Fascial Release?
This is the practice of stretching and moving fascia in
a way that creates enough space within your body to allow healing. There
is a wide range of pressures that can be used in order to achieve a
release. Either way it is a slow moving, patient technique that really
allows your body to be in charge of every direction the therapist should
move. It also allows your entire body to become relaxed even while
targeting one specific area.
